Job Title: IT Service - Lab Computing Analyst

Location: 53 East Scott Avenue, Rahway, NJ 07065- Parking Available

Work Model: Fully Onsite (5 days/week)

Expected Hours: 40 hours/week

Duration: 12 months (potential for extension based on performance and business needs)

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Lab Computing Analyst to join our dynamic PerkinElmer Lab IT Services team. This role provides critical technical support to laboratory IT environments integrated with scientific instrumentation, ensuring seamless operations and compliance in a highly regulated setting.

Key Responsibilities

Implement, monitor, and provide technical support for laboratory IT environments, often integrated with scientific instruments.

Deploy and maintain customer-specified benchtop computing systems and processes.

Administer Windows-based platforms, ensuring consistent connectivity and performance.

Support operating systems, desktop hardware, peripherals, and instrument-controlled software, including imaging and deploying computers.

Manage onboarding, retirement, and relocation of IT equipment within laboratory environments.

Implement and maintain Windows-based security controls, including user/group permissions, folder access, group policies, and local security policies.

Troubleshoot and resolve issues with instrument-related computers; escalate complex problems to infrastructure teams as necessary.

Act as the primary technical support contact for instrument vendors.

Provide technical assistance for system validations and change management processes.

Maintain a physical inventory of lab equipment, PCs, software, and other client-specified assets.

Submit weekly engineering reports to the team lead by COB on the last business day of the week.

Serve as the client liaison for software and hardware inquiries; participate in team meetings.

Support all PerkinElmer Enterprise practices as needed.

Adhere to health, safety, environmental, and security compliance requirements in all activities.

Qualifications

Required Skills & Experience:

Proficiency in Microsoft operating systems, networking, remote computing, and backup systems.

Hands-on experience with scientific instrumentation in laboratory settings.

Familiarity with validated environments and regulatory compliance.

Strong technical troubleshooting skills, including Ethernet networking and problem-solving.

Experience managing folder permissions, shared drives, and local security policies. Preferred Skills (Nice-to-Have):

Familiarity with Acronis, ServiceNow, or Tanium.

Experience with network label printers.

Working Environment

Work is performed in laboratory-controlled environments requiring personal protective equipment (e.g., lab coats, safety glasses).

Job pace may be fast with high demands for timely completion.

Ability to remain stationary for extended periods (>25% of the time).

Must move between labs, corridors, adjoining rooms, and buildings as needed.

Regular bending, squatting, stretching, and reaching are required to perform service functions.

Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs (with potential for rare lifting of up to 50 lbs).

May handle hazardous waste in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations, including proper identification, labeling, storage, and disposal.

Potential exposure to lab-based hazards (e.g., extreme temperatures, biological materials, hazardous chemicals).

May require medical clearance, respirator training, and fit testing for work in certain laboratory environments.
