M&J is seeking a Senior Engineer and Architect to provide analytical, data - driven insights to improve operational performance, financial efficiency, and strategic decision - making across key business areas.

Salary:

Salary is commensurate with experience, ranging from $180,000 to $220,000 anually.

Responsibilities

Lead and oversee the design, analysis, and review of engineering or architectural projects within WMATA's infrastructure.

Prepare, evaluate, and coordinate technical reports, drawings, specifications, and estimates in compliance with applicable codes and standards.

Collaborate with WMATA staff, multidisciplinary teams (civil, traffic, structural engineers), and project stakeholders to ensure design intent, quality, safety, and performance expectations are met.

Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and leadership to project teams and junior staff.

Monitor and manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables to ensure timely and accurate completion within scope.

Participate in design review meetings, client meetings, field visits, and coordination sessions with multidisciplinary teams.

Support construction and inspection teams by addressing field-related technical issues and providing design clarifications.

Conduct field inspections and assessments to verify project compliance and resolve on-site issues.

Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, industry best practices, and safety requirements in all project phases.

Prepare and present detailed reports, documentation, and technical specifications to stakeholders and senior management.

Perform project delay analyses comparing status versus baseline (during award).

Prepare artifacts and documentation for contract negotiations.

Review project status, schedules, and updates with WMATA field teams; along with contractor claims.

Develop and deliver presentations to stakeholders and senior management.

Attend required in-person meetings and perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an ABET-accredited college or university Architecture, Civil, Structural, Traffic Engineering, or a closely related discipline.

Professional Engineer (P.E.) (license is preferred in some roles) or Registered Architect (R.A.) license.

Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in infrastructure, transit, or transportation projects; 8+ years of architectural experience with emphasis on transit and rail industries; 15+ years of related work experience in rail transit infrastructure projects (depending on role seniority).

Strong understanding of building codes, design specifications, industry standards, and regulatory guidelines governing civil, structural, architectural, and rail transit systems.

Proven experience in leading multidisciplinary teams and managing large-scale infrastructure projects.

Proficiency in relevant engineering and design software (AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, Civil 3D, or similar).

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a collaborative approach to project delivery.

Strong project management and leadership skills.

Salary level commensurate with applicable experience, education, and certifications. Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with WMATA's design criteria and standards highly; experience with WMATA or similar transit agencies.

Master's degree in Architecture, Civil, or related engineering field.
