The hospital is the only one in Connecticut to receive a national ranking in this specialty and is recognized for its expertise in procedures like hip fracture, back surgery, hip replacement, and knee replacement. Our Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, (PMR) launched a residency program division and now has eight residents. PMR is the largest division in the department with faculty located in all delivery networks in the state.

Join our growing faculty. The Department of Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation seeks a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Physician for a full-time faculty position with interest and expertise in both inpatient and outpatient general physiatry. This position will have an expectation of clinical service commitment at the Yale New Haven Hospital region.

Primary Role:

• Provide outpatient clinical care in a diverse general physiatry practice that includes musculoskeletal care, neurorehabilitation, spasticity management and opportunity to customize clinic and perform EMGs, ultrasound, Botox s, phenol neurolysis or cryo-neurolysis (depending on interest and skill set).

Responsibilities:

Primary practice locations: Milford CT, New Haven, CT.

Opportunities to perform EMGs, MSK ultrasound, and other outpatient clinical needs including musculoskeletal clinics, amputee care, and spasticity management (including Botox and phenol).

Participate in the training of residents, medical students, and other allied health students.

Engage in research activities, depending on the wishes and skill set of the candidate. Research is supported and valued. • Call coverage at Milford Hospital Inpatient rehabilitation unit (IRU) in Milford, CT. Hospitalist is attending of record, and physiatrist manages the rehabilitation aspects of the patient care Monday through Friday. Includes team meetings with PM&R Residents. No weekend inpatient call.

• Perform inpatient consultation services at Yale New Haven Hospital in the region

Opportunities:

• Academic appointment, start at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor commensurate with experience

• Diverse practice opportunities in areas such as spasticity, brain injury, stroke, neuro-trauma, and neurorehabilitation.

Potential to perform consultation services at YNH and SRC Campus Hospitals.

Contribution to program and practice development, medical leadership, teaching, and research.

Representing the Department by participating in committees, conferences, and exemplifying the institution at professional meetings and community speaking engagements. Research: if desired, engage in research activities, depending on the wishes and skill set of the candidate. Research is supported and valued.

Qualifications

Board Eligible/Certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R).

Strong commitment to teaching and academic development. • Interest and/or experience in General Physiatry, Electrodiagnostic medicine, Prosthetics and Orthotics, and Spasticity management

• New PM&R residency graduates are encouraged to apply

Fellowship training is preferred

Proficiency in musculoskeletal medicine, peripheral injections, ultrasound-guided procedures, spasticity management, electrodiagnostic consultations, concussion management, and workers compensation.
