Job Summary
This department supervises and coordinates the activities of the department and the Magnet Program 24 hour/day. Responsible for ongoing development of department policies and procedures. Participates in the investigation and preparation of reports relative to the improvement of care and services, maintains regulatory standards, safety training, and personnel performance. Ensures appropriate staffing levels to maintain quality patient care; and ensures the needs of patients are provided in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Ensures compliance with policies and procedures; communicates at a high level with Administration, physicians, unit staff, and other MH personnel to ensure best practice for our customers. Ensures the department's mission, vision, values, and strategic and quality plan reflects the organizations current and anticipated strategic priorities. Reports and shares NDNQI data to appropriate departments and leaders.
Minimum Job Requirements
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with BSN.
Current Indiana Registered Nurse License.
Minimum of five years' experience in hospital or related setting, and minimum of two years of management. Preferred Job Requirements
Preferred certification in related field.
M.S.N Degree preferred, will consider BS or MS in Management, or Administration. Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Knowledge of policies, governmental regulations and business practices pertinent to the department
Excellent communication skills to effectively and tactfully communicate with patients and their families and guests, co-workers, managers, Hospital Administrators, providers, consultants, business associates and regulatory agencies presenting a professional image as a representative of Marion General Hospital.
Interpersonal skills necessary in order to carry out duties in a professional manner, as well as the ability to work well under stress. Requires excellent time management, and organizational skills.
Ability to problem solve, multi-task in a fast-paced setting and work well in a team environment.
Ability to negotiate effective working relationships and develop positive resolution to conflict.
Highly developed computer skills to include proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and proficiently perform computer applications related to department operations and job function.
Excellent customer service skills.
Excellent management skills. Strong organizational, financial, leadership and administrative skills to manage multiple issues simultaneously combined with ability to effectively prioritize.
Ability to effectively perform job functions under periods of extreme stress, meeting deadlines and producing positive outcomes.
High degree of accuracy with concentration and close attention to detail.
Commitment of 24-hour accountability.
Ability to be discreet and protect the integrity of any confidential matter or information encountered during the performance of job duties. Working Conditions
Typical hospital clinical environment with frequent standing and walking.
Work may be subject to interruptions and occasional high stress levels.
Risk of occupational exposure to blood and other potentially infectious, electrical and radiation hazards.
Works with highly confidential information which may be proprietary or protected health information.
Ability to work hours significantly beyond the normal work week.
May attend special functions and meetings at various locations within the hospital and community.

Standing, walking, stooping, bending, lifting, pushing and pulling to provide patient care and to utilize patient care devices necessary to perform duties in a safe manner.
