Prepares paint to match specified colors by blending and mixing required amounts of
pigment, oil, thing and drying substances.
2. Applies coats of paint, varnish, stains, or lacquer to decorate and protect the exterior and
interior surfaces, trimmings and fixture of the hospital, using brushes, rollers or sprayers.
3. Draws and paints artwork on materials such as; glass, canvas, wood and plastics. Prepares sketches or drawings from memory when needed. Creates special effects by applying paint with cloth, brush, sponge or fingers.
4. Smoothes surfaces using sandpaper, wire brushes, or steel wool and removes old paint
from surfaces using paint remover, scrapers, wire brushes to prepare surfaces for painting; Spreads cloth or canvas over floors and furniture to protect them from splattering paint.
5. Ability to estimate time and materials needed for job assignment.
6. The ability to accomplish work assignments in a timely manner unsupervised.
7. Ability to hang and finish sheetrock.
8. Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education: High School, GED, Trade School completion preferred
B. Experience: 5 Years painting and wallpaper installation
C. Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations: None required
D. Equipment/Tools/Work Aids: General hand tools, paint brushes, rollers, spray guns, ladder, sander, drop cloth and blowtorch
E. Specialized Skills: Able to follow written and verbal directions. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
F. Physical Requirements: Lifts and carries objects such as ladders, containers of paint and rolls of covering materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Climbs and balances on ladders when painting upper walls, ceilings and stairway. Kneels, crouches, stoops and crawls when preparing surfaces for painting or papering.
