The City of St. Cloud is seeking an experienced and motivated Fleet Services Superintendent to join our Public Works Department. This leadership role oversees the Fleet Maintenance Division and the welding shop, ensuring that our vehicles and equipment operate safely, efficiently, and reliably in service to our community.
As a key member of the Public Works team, the Fleet Services Superintendent provides administrative and supervisory leadership, guiding skilled professionals in maintaining and repairing the City's diverse fleet. The individual in this position works under the policy and administrative direction of the Public Works Director, with performance evaluated periodically for results achieved and adherence to departmental goals.

Duties and Responsibilities
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.
Plans, schedules, supervises and directs the day-to-day administration and operation of the City's Fleet Maintenance Division and the welding/machine shop.
Plans, promotes, and implements a fleet management program. Annually develops a list of replacement vehicles and equipment developed with the effected department directors.
Monitors and reports key performance indicators.
Plans for fleet maintenance improvements, through equipment upgrades and other techniques.
Supervises the assigned personnel; trains the personnel in their duties; conducts periodic and sufficiently frequent informal and formal performance evaluations based on organization and personal/professional goals and objectives.
Performs all administrative matters regarding personnel.
Prepares the division budgets and the appropriate information to support that proposal; once approved, administers the budget with the required limits on spending and approved acquisitions.
Handles customer complaints and request for information; investigates the basis for complaints; remedies situations in need.
Operates any equipment in the division when necessary.
Drafts specifications for new equipment, tools and supplies based on performance requirements and standards to be achieved.
Oversees regular preventative maintenance and repair of all City vehicles, and the repair of all equipment as needed; monitors the condition of equipment through examination of maintenance and repair records; prepares replacement plans when equipment repair becomes non-cost effective.
Helps design, fabricate, and build custom-made special projects and accessories for new and used vehicles.
Works with other divisions and departments as required, to arrange use of equipment and services. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Graduation from high school or completion of a GED, supplemented by specialized courses/training in the techniques and practices in fleet management.
Minimum of (5) five year's experience related to managing a fleet of at least 500 vehicles, large construction equipment, small machines, and/or generators. This time shall include supervisory experience. A minimum of (3) three years of supervisory experience is preferred.
Must possess and maintain the following certifications:
At least four (4) ASE certifications in the "A" or "T" series or be able to obtain two (2) within 180 days of employment and obtain a total of four (4) within one (1) year of employment.
A valid class B Florida state commercial driver's license (CDL), with an acceptable driving history or be able to obtain within one (1) year of employment. The following certifications are preferred:
ASE Master certification (automotive and/or truck).
Forklift operator certification.
One (1) year of welding operation experience. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
