As a Food Service Worker at UNC Health Appalachian, you'll play a vital role in supporting patient care by ensuring every meal is safe, nutritious, and delivered with care. Compensation: Starting pay begins at $15.00 per hour, with competitive rates based on experience and education.

Schedule: Variable shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Assemble, prepare, and deliver timely meals to patients, visitors, and staff.

Maintain cleanliness and organization in kitchen, prep, and dining areas.

Follow proper food handling techniques and safety protocols.

Provide friendly, efficient customer service in every interaction.

Assist with dishwashing, sanitation, and general cleanup duties.

Support kitchen operations while adhering to ARHS quality and safety standards. Qualifications

Education:

High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required. Experience:

Prior experience in food service or healthcare setting preferred. Licenses/Certifications:

None required. Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of food safety regulations and procedures.

Excellent customer service and teamwork skills.

Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Basic computer literacy (Word, Excel, and nutrition software).

Willingness to assist with dishwashing and sanitation as needed. Physical & Work Environment

Lift, push, pull, or transfer up to and over 50 lbs.

Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching throughout shifts.

Exposure to hot surfaces, cleaning agents, and hospital environment risks.
