About this Role

The Protective Services Officer (PSO) is tasked with providing uniformed, armed security and protection services at critical incidents and disasters such as wildfires, earthquakes, hurricanes, protests and incidents of civil unrest. CAI provides PSOs to public safety agencies throughout the United States. This is a seasonal on call position. Military veterans, retired law enforcement and correctional officers are strongly encouraged to apply.
As with all CAI roles, qualified candidates must have the highest level of professionalism, common sense and ability to competently operate in a continually evolving environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure the overall safety and security of public safety support staff, incident command posts, airports, municipal business districts, and other similar locations.
Provide access control and the monitoring of entrances, exits, perimeters, and surrounding areas.
Maintain a professional work environment which provides the highest level of customer service while maintaining the highest level of safety and security.
Work alongside law enforcement agencies, fire departments, military units and local, state and government agencies.
Ability to work shifts ranging between 8 - 12 hours a day.
Represent CAI at the highest professional level.
Safeguard and maintain highly sensitive and confidential information.
Conducts ongoing threat, risk, and vulnerability assessments at assigned sites.
Comply with and enhance role related policies and procedures.
Center point for disseminating information regarding security-related information to government employees and the public.
Coordinate contingency plans and medical response to emergencies.
Ability to work independently and to adapt to various work-paces while always maintaining a high-level of attentiveness and energy.
Exercise sound operational judgment and flexibility to shifting priorities and challenges. Skills and Experience
Have a minimum of 5 years law enforcement, correctional, or fire experience. Or 8+ years of military experience. Or 10+ years of executive security experience.
Experience working within critical incidents, disasters, secured sites, civil unrest, and/or high stress environments.
Experience and understanding of Incident Command Post (ICP) models, access control, and physical security.
Maintain highly sensitive and confidential information and abide by NDAs
Exceptional communication skills with the ability to communicate in a clear, direct and concise manner.
Have a proven history of strong leadership, teamwork and organizational skills with the ability to communicate (both verbally and in writing) in a clear and concise manner.
Have a solid reputation of being a team player with a "get it done" attitude.
Exercise sound operational judgment and flexibility to shifting priorities and challenges.
Be in good overall physical, mental and emotional condition.
Must be a proactive problem solver with the capability to work independently and in a team environment.
A customer service, client first mindset with a strong attention to detail. Required
Must have a BSIS guard card, exposed firearm permit, first aid, CPR & AED certification.
Have verifiable work experience in law enforcement, corrections, fire, military, or 10+ years of executive security experience.
Successfully pass initial and periodic background and drug screening.
Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Must possess a good understanding of basic technology including smartphones, communications platforms and collaboration apps and their use while in the field.
Must adhere to company grooming standards and remain physically fit.
Maintain a high level of physical fitness and personal appearance.
Ability to work nights and weekends as required.

Desired
Bachelor's degree or higher education.
Basic POST, Active First Responder, Paramedic or EMT certifications.
California CCW permit.
Past experience with Emergency Management or Disaster Response.
Successful completion of NIMS Certifications ICS 100-400, FEMA IS-100.B, IS-200.B & IS-700. A.
Ability to work in various regions of your state as well as statewide travel. Compensation & Benefits
$40.00 per hour plus overtime.
Lodging per diem provided for some projects.
Meals provided at most incidents but not guaranteed.
