SUMMARY
This position provides public safety work by guiding school children across roadways, intersections, and cross walks. Work involves directing and stopping traffic to allow school children to cross roadways safely. Duties include supervising school children along roadways to ensure order and safety. Work is performed with independent judgment within established general orders. Performance is reviewed for compliance with desired objectives and through observation of work activities.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Must pass a comprehensive background/character investigation, medical examination, drug screening, and polygraph examination; fingerprinting will be required.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma required.
If applicant served in the military, an honorable discharge is required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Possession of valid Florida driver's license and maintenance of a clean driving record required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITY
Knowledge of municipal ordinances regulating the movement of traffic at a school crosswalk.
Ability to work with children and to instruct them in the need for crossing streets in a safe manner.
Ability to enforce firmly and impartially the laws and ordinances relating to the area of work.
Ability to understand and carry out simple oral and written instructions.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
