Associate Medical Assistant (AMA)

Job Summary: Provide essential support in healthcare delivery and patient care management within a clinical setting. Responsibilities vary daily based on practice needs.

Essential Responsibilities:

Deliver direct and delegated patient care, recognizing normal and abnormal health indicators to identify at-risk patients. Follow established standards and guidelines for patient care. Respond to phone inquiries and triage appropriately, offering reassurance, education, and clear instructions.

Ensure smooth healthcare service delivery throughout patient visits. Complete, update, and maintain accurate medical records. Prepare patients for examinations by obtaining vital signs, medical history, and chief complaints. Monitor patients with abnormal symptoms, communicate findings to physicians, and document accordingly. Confirm patient understanding of physician instructions upon discharge. Enter medical record data and billing information into electronic systems.

Assist physicians with testing, treatments, minor surgeries, and physical exams. Apply splints and dressings as directed. Manage sample medications and logs. Coordinate patient testing, admissions, and referrals. Retrieve test results and notify patients. Obtain consents for invasive procedures and immunizations. Provide patient education materials and ensure comprehension of treatment and medication instructions. Perform laboratory tests and maintain lab logs.

Maintain clinical areas by stocking supplies, organizing patient education materials, and ensuring exam rooms are clean and orderly. Sterilize instruments and verify equipment functionality. Order and manage clinical supplies to support patient care.

Perform additional duties as assigned, adapting to evolving responsibilities.

Education and Experience Required:

Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant or Nursing program is required.

Work Shift:

Varied shifts within a regional healthcare setting in the Midwest United States.
