Purpose of Position:

Compile the necessary information and take independent action to procure supplies, materials, equipment and services for the organization, forecasting future needs and ensuring effective supply levels. Stock, organize and ensure life and safety codes are met in all nutrition services department kitchen and storage areas.

Uphold the organization's vision, mission, and corporate values. Demonstrate understanding of and compliance with organization's policies, procedures, code of conduct and work rules.

Essential Functions:

Provide general oversight to purchasing program, serving as a resource to Nutrition Department Staff. Provide guidance in the completion of a purchase order and review/analysis of goods/services

Maintain effective nutrition inventory and perform regular inventory review, forecasting needs, reviewing backorders, and making necessary adjustments

Receive, inspect, stock, and put away inventory. Organize storage rooms, ensuring life and safety codes and compliance.

Perform general warehouse work in cold storage freezer, walk in coolers and dry storage areas.

Assist with kitchen cleaning and stocking. Ensure appropriate labels, first in-first out, taking down boxes.

Fill and deliver dietary requsitions for other departments and villages, input requsitions into system

Create and analyze a variety of reports regarding inventory and purchasing trends and metrics, making recommendations as necessary

Provide oversight and direction when reconciling and/or paying invoices for goods/services received and serve as facilitator/liaison between vendor/contractor and end-user when returns and/or discrepancies occur

Assist in café, stocking storage areas. Cash register if needed. Fireweed Café closeout and deposits. End of day reconciliation completed and all forms forwarded to accounting and Director daily.

Minimum Requirements

Inventory Technician I (Grade 3)

High School Diploma

Alaska Food Handlers Card within 30 Days

Inventory Technician II (Grade 4)

All Inventory Technician I requirements

90 Days working in purchasing, nutrition services inventory, kitchen or related field

Inventory Technician III (Grade 5)

All Inventory Technician II requirements

2 years working in purchasing, nutrition services inventory, kitchen or related field

Physical Requirements:

• Use hands and arms to operate office or clinical equipment

• Sit more than half the workday

• Stand and/or walk less than half the workday

• Bend, stretch, twist, crouch and/or reach

• View electronic monitors for prolonged periods of time

• Use hands and arms for repetitive motion tasks consistently for more than one hour at a time

• Lift or carry unaided less than50 pounds

• See and hear with normal acuity

Working Conditions:

• Work is conducted in a standard kitchen environment, freezers, coolers and storage rooms

• Minimal travel is required (less than 25% of the time)

• Travel is required via large aircraft

• Travel is required via small (less than 16 passenger) aircraft
