Summary
As an Emergency Medical Professional, you will serve as a vital team member providing immediate medical care to those affected by accidents, violence, and sudden illnesses such as cardiac arrests or strokes. You will deliver pre-hospital and intra-hospital advanced life support care from the first contact until patient care is handed over to the receiving medical facility.
Job Duties
Represent the ambulance service at public service functions, expositions, and other events, providing standby services as needed.
Document full assessments and treatments using patient care charting software.
Provide care for patients in psychiatric, medical, and traumatic crises with appropriate medical, traumatic, and therapeutic interventions.
Operate as part of a two-member ambulance crew responding to both emergency and non-emergency calls.
Utilize equipment such as bag valve mask resuscitators, external defibrillators, and electrocardiograms for advanced life support.
Assess the nature and extent of injuries or illnesses to prioritize medical procedures such as stabilization and transport.
Follow dispatcher instructions while safely driving and operating emergency vehicles.
Administer medications via injection, intravenous procedures, or orally as directed by a physician.
Communicate with medical personnel at treatment facilities for guidance regarding patient care.
Clean and decontaminate the ambulance after transporting any patient with an infectious disease and report such cases to the relevant authorities.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED.
Ability to assess the needs of acute and chronically ill patients and their families.
Proficient in documenting and communicating essential information via computer and/or paper tools.
Demonstrates age-specific competency in caring for patients across all age groups from neonates to geriatrics.
Knowledge of infection control procedures and safety protocols.
Ability to apply advanced knowledge and training to develop and execute care plans, rapidly intervening in life-saving situations.
ACLS - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification in Pennsylvania upon hire.
PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification in Pennsylvania upon hire.
American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification in Pennsylvania upon hire.
EMSVO Certification in Pennsylvania upon hire.
PA EMT-P Paramedic certification or NREMT-Paramedic certification in Pennsylvania upon hire.
Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate's Degree.
Two years of experience in advanced life support service.
One year of pre-hospital paramedic experience.
NREMT-Paramedic certification or Pre-Hospital RN certification in Pennsylvania upon hire.
Physical Demands
Ability to lift over 50 lbs, push/pull up to 140 lbs, and carry 80 lbs over short distances. Frequent standing, walking, squatting, kneeling, crawling, climbing, and reaching overhead are required.
