Compensation: Starting pay begins at $24.69 per hour, with competitive rates based on experience and education.
Schedule: Full-time, variable shifts; may include nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call rotations.

Operate, maintain, and repair HVAC systems including chillers, boilers, air handlers, heat pumps, and ventilation systems.
Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and emergency repairs to ensure optimal system performance.
Install and commission new HVAC equipment in accordance with codes, regulatory standards, and manufacturer specifications.
Assess energy efficiency and recommend improvements to reduce waste and enhance system operation.
Maintain detailed logs and documentation of maintenance, repairs, inspections, and equipment conditions.
Collaborate with facilities, engineering, and clinical teams to support seamless hospital operations.
Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and adherence to UNC Health Appalachian policies, safety standards, and values. Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma or GED required.
Vocational or technical training in HVAC systems preferred. Experience:
Progressive HVAC experience in installation, maintenance, and repair preferred; institutional or healthcare setting experience a plus. Licenses/Certifications:
Valid driver's license required.
HVAC certification preferred. Skills & Abilities:
Proficiency in HVAC diagnostics, troubleshooting, and system maintenance.
Ability to interpret schematics, technical manuals, blueprints, and building codes.
Knowledge of OSHA standards, facility safety practices, and regulatory requirements.
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment. Physical & Work Environment
Lift, push, pull, or carry up to and over 50 lbs.
Frequent standing, walking, bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, and reaching.
Manual dexterity and near visual acuity required for equipment repair and inspection.
Exposure to chemicals, electrical and mechanical systems, power tools, and various environmental conditions.
Work in cramped spaces, attics, mechanical rooms, and rooftops for extended periods.
Exposure to bloodborne pathogens, hazardous materials, and hospital environment risks.
