As a Child Life Specialist, you will plan, develop, and deliver Child Life programming that addresses the psychological, emotional, and developmental needs of pediatric patients and their families. Job Duties:
Coordinate and supervise all special events within the inpatient pediatric areas.
Collaborate with marketing and public affairs for photography, filming activities, and corporate events.
Develop strategies to minimize children's fear and anxiety regarding healthcare experiences.
Prepare patients and families for healthcare procedures using therapeutic play activities.
Assess children's developmental stages and emotional states to tailor support effectively.
Identify coping strategies for patients and families, assisting them in managing hospitalization and loss.
Implement specialized services that meet individual child needs.
Consult with healthcare professionals on developmental and behavioral issues affecting patient care.
Maintain accurate records of Child Life services provided to patients.
Plan and manage budgets and resources for the Child Life department efficiently.
Offer consultations to children of patients to support them during hospital visits. Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Child Life or a related field.
At least 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting working with children as a Child Life Specialist.
CCLS - Certified Child Life Specialist - State of Pennsylvania upon hire.
American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification - State of Pennsylvania upon hire. Physical Demands:
This role may require lifting and carrying weights of 40-50 lbs, as well as frequent walking and standing. Patient care providers must be prepared for physical activities related to their roles, including bending, kneeling, squatting, and performing CPR.
