Responsibilities:
Handle a diverse caseload under the supervision of senior attorneys;
Conduct thorough factual investigations of actual and potential claims;
Perform comprehensive legal research and draft well-reasoned and well-articulated legal memorandums, motions, and briefs;
Prepare high-quality pleadings, motions, and discovery materials-demonstrating an extreme attention to detail, a high quality of prose, and a meaningful contribution toward strategic goals;
Take and defend depositions of witnesses and experts;
Represent clients in court proceedings and argue effectively before judges;
Assist in trial preparation, including witness preparation and evidence organization;
Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop effective litigation strategies; and
Maintain accurate and organized case files and documentation.
Requirements:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school;
Admission to Missouri Bar (additional Kansas Bar admission soon after hiring);
2-4+ years of experience practicing law following bar admission (prior civil litigation experience is a plus);
Exceptional oral and written communication skills;
Strong time management and organizational abilities;
Proficiency in legal research and writing;
Strategic and analytical thinking with attention to detail and the "big picture;" and
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team; and
Willingness to travel-albeit infrequently.
