Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Paraprofessional to join our team and support students with diverse learning needs. This role involves working closely with special education teachers to help provide individualized assistance to students, supporting their academic and personal growth within a structured and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist Classroom Instruction: Support the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) and reinforce learning objectives under the guidance of the lead teacher.
Behavioral Support: Provide proactive behavior management, ensuring a safe and positive classroom atmosphere for all students.
Personalized Student Assistance: Work one-on-one or in small groups to help students engage with the curriculum and reach learning milestones.
Communication & Collaboration: Maintain open communication with the teaching team, parents, and other staff to share progress and address student needs.
Adaptation of Materials: Assist in modifying or adapting classroom activities, assignments, and materials to meet the needs of diverse learners.
Classroom Management Support: Help maintain a structured learning environment by assisting with classroom organization and monitoring student progress.
Documentation & Reporting: Keep accurate records of student progress, behaviors, and other relevant data as directed by the supervising teacher.
Physical Assistance (if applicable): Support students with personal needs, mobility, and physical care if necessary, under the teacher's guidance.
Professional Development: Participate in training sessions and staff meetings to enhance skills and remain up-to-date on best practices.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree or higher preferred
Experience working with children, especially those with special needs, is an advantage
Patience, adaptability, and strong communication skills
