Heron Pond Elementary School SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION:
The paraprofessional assists teachers by performing a variety of tasks that promote student learning and well-being. The paraprofessional works individually and in small groups to provide instructional, behavioral, and other support to students with disabilities both in and out of the classroom.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of child development.
General knowledge of instructional strategies and practices to support students with disabilities.
Ability to use technology into the delivery of curriculum.
Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, and school based staff, students, parents and community.
Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.
Basic understanding of how to engage with and support students with special needs.
Ability to use and support technology, software, and devices.
Ability to assist with implementation of the instructional program and to support and monitor student behavior.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and to perform all required tasks.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or GED required. Associate's Degree preferred.
Two years of experience in an education related field including preschool, adult day program, after school program, extended day, or school/non-school based departments, etc. preferred.
Any combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered. CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:
Certification/licensure not required.
Certified by the NH State Department of Education as a ParaEducator II preferred.
$0.75 per hour for ParaEducator II certification. SCHEDULE:
Full-time.
32.5 hours per week, 6.5 hours per day. FLSA Status:
Non-Exempt
