Department Summary

The Humanities and Social Sciences Department offers degrees in Applied Psychology and Population Health Management, and a diverse collection of courses which include a minor in Arts, Literature, and Philosophy (ALPs). All of which support Oregon Tech's general education mission. We are committed to our role in enabling students to develop intellectual curiosity, critical thinking skills, global knowledge, and ethical and cultural awareness.

Position Summary

The College of Health, Arts, and Sciences at Oregon Tech is seeking applications for an Assistant Professor of Psychology position in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS).

Our new colleague will be based at our Klamath Falls campus and teach a variety of undergraduate BS in Applied Psychology program. Depending on need, teaching responsibility will be flexibly split between our Klamath Falls and Online programs. Preferred areas of expertise include clinical, counseling, and developmental psychology, although other areas will be considered. Potential courses include abnormal psychology, basic counseling, and/or introductory psychology, social psychology, human development, career and field preparation, cognitive psychology, capstone, as well as courses in the candidate's area of expertise or as needed by the program.

The Applied Psychology program is housed in Oregon Tech's Humanities and Social Sciences department - a collegial environment that encourages interdisciplinary collaboration. The successful candidate will support our online and Klamath Falls programs through teaching, academic advising, program assessment, and engagement in student activities including applied research projects.

Our program has strong relationships with local community partners in the mental and behavioral health field. Thus, the successful candidate will network with community partners on a variety of fronts, including the identification and development of collaborative, sponsored projects that support the applied nature of our program. We are strongly committed to supporting the mental and behavioral health workforce development needs, both in our rural community and across Oregon.

Applied research and excellence in instruction are expected of tenure track faculty at Oregon Tech. Service to the department, institution, and community are also highly valued. Successful candidates will pursue an applied research agenda that includes grant seeking and inclusion of undergraduate students.

Qualified candidates will have a doctoral degree in Psychology or related field from an accredited college or university. Qualified candidates should demonstrate the ability to teach a broad range of classes that support our current curriculum both online and on campus.

Doctorate in Psychology (PhD or PsyD) required. While ABD candidates will be considered, successful degree completion prior to January 1, 2027 is required for reappointment.
