Role Overview
The Assistant Athletic Trainer supports the Head Athletic Trainer in delivering comprehensive medical care to student-athletes. Responsibilities include injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, referral, and rehabilitation, while ensuring compliance with NCAA Division II and Conference Carolinas regulations. The role also includes administrative duties as assigned.
Key Responsibilities
Provide daily health care services to student-athletes.
Support athletic training room operations and maintain accurate medical records.
Cover practices and competitions, including occasional travel.
Assist with inventory, budgeting, and administrative tasks.
Supervise student interns and work-study staff.
Serve on department and campus committees as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree.
BOC certification.
Eligible for the Virginia State Athletic Training Licensure.
Current Emergency Cardiac Care (ECC) certification.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree.
Experience in a collegiate athletic environment.
2+ years of experience as a certified athletic trainer.
Familiarity with The Athletic Trainer System (ATS).
Additional certifications (e.g., CPR/First Aid Instructor, strength and conditioning, Graston Technique, FMS). Licenses & Certifications Required
BOC certification.
Virginia State Athletic Training Licensure (eligibility).
Emergency Cardiac Care (ECC) certification.
Valid driver's license.
