We are seeking a Marine Investigations Assistant Manager to support our client. Please see below for the job description and desired qualifications;

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Coordinates the investigation process and provides administrative support to the Maritime Investigations Department for the management of the Marine Casualty Investigations program ensuring compliance with the company. Collaborates with other departments, Regional Offices, maritime partners, and the field Investigators as directed to ensure timely, accurate completion of investigations reports and proper documentation of all investigative work.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manages the coordination of investigations of marine casualties, pollution, alleged violations of Maritime laws, rules and regulations.

• Assists the Investigations Department management with preparation and submission of required reports into the IMO database.

• Organizes the scheduling of Investigator attendance onboard ships and following up with DPA, maritime partners and Investigators when needed.

• Assists in reviews of legal aspects of investigations providing recommendations as appropriate.

• Prepares agreements, correspondence, and reports as directed.

• Assists in the development of statistics for measures of effectiveness and analyzing trends.

• Communicates with ship managers, Port State Control representatives, other maritime agencies and investigators to ensure accurate and timely responses to inquiries.

• Assists the Director in preparation of updates/revisions of Administration guidance to ensure proper and timely application.

• Maintains electronic filing systems, documents and forms related to the Quality Management System and other records.

• Reviews maritime publications and other resources for use by the Department.

• Generates invoices for direct billing of fees.

• Carries out Marine Casualty Investigation onboard vessels as directed.

• Performs other duties and projects as required by the Director and Senior Management.

GENERAL QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES:

Experience, Education and Certification

• Bachelor of Science, Maritime Transportation/Engineering or Equivalent, preferred.

• Experience in marine casualty investigations preferred.

• Licensed Deck or Engineer Officer with a minimum of 3 years of sea services Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office application

• Ability to organize and prioritize work and meet deadlines.
