MATERIALS SUPERVISOR-DSG Rack Yard

JOB SUMMARY:

Materials Supervisor is responsible for monitoring and supporting production and procurement of raw materials. Ensure raw materials are maintained at optimal levels to maintain a smooth production plan with a steady flow of materials while achieving inventory targets. Manage and complete material projects with local teams, plants and, company goals in mind. Support the local teams for new launches with all aspects of floor and office systems implementation and floor readiness.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manage and support shipping/receiving team.

Develop and maintain material and inventory control systems.

Ensures that all incoming material is received, labelled, and placed in appropriate storage areas.

Manage layout of storage racks.

Verifies all incoming shipments for correct waybill information and visible damage.

Communicates and follows up on discrepancies with GM container group.

Communicates with others to ensure shipping related problems are resolved.

Verify all receiving documents and resolve receiving discrepancies.

Monitor inventory levels.

Ensure all receiving drivers and docks run safely.

Ensure that all systems are followed for all material activities.

Support receiving and production activities to ensure on-time delivery.

Identify and suggest areas for continuous improvement within the plant (i.e. signage, layouts, systems, plant organization, etc.).

Operates hi-lo to load, unload, and move materials.

Implementation and support of 5S processes in the shop

Monitor and communicate scrap daily with GM to maintain container flow and function.

Maintain site for optimal operation.

Maintain supplies needed for team members.

Follow safe practices.

All other duties as assigned. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of advanced schooling and/or work experience.

Years of Experience: 3+ years of experience and demonstrated success in Business, Materials Management or Supply Chain Mgt/Logistics TRAVEL:

Travel Required: No KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Proficiency with ERP and Kanban Systems.

Ability to plan and analyze production requirements and implement supporting material systems and business processes.

Working knowledge of material flows and layouts.

Highly organized and detailed to establish priorities, identify and set goals.

Able to work under pressure in order to meet deadlines and be able to perform self-initiated and planned activities.

Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, especially for collaborating with others internally and externally to accomplish goals and resolve issues.

Broad knowledge of mobile equipment and operation.

Knowledge of IATF 16949 and other customer specific requirements.

Tact, a sense of urgency, and an overall customer satisfaction focus.

Ability to reconcile accounts.

Demonstrated and creative ability to solve problems.

Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Familiar with MRP systems (QAD's MfgPro and GM's MGO experience preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. BENEFITS:
