Position Summary:

The Classroom Facilitator serves as the in-person support for students assigned to an online teacher for instruction. This position plays a critical role in maintaining a structured, supportive, and productive classroom environment. The facilitator ensures students are actively engaged in the learning process by managing classroom behavior, promoting regular attendance, and supporting daily expectations. In addition, the facilitator assists students in accessing and navigating the required technology platforms to ensure instruction provided by the online teacher is uninterrupted and effective.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supervise and monitor students in a designated classroom while instruction is delivered virtually by an online teacher.

• Establish, model, and maintain consistent behavioral and procedural expectations for students during instructional periods.

• Take daily attendance and monitor student participation, engagement, and progress.

• Communicate student behavior, attendance concerns, or technology-related issues to the appropriate staff members (e.g., online teacher, building administrator, IT support).

• Provide basic support and troubleshooting for technology tools and platforms used in online instruction (e.g., Chromebooks, Zoom, Google Classroom, learning management systems).

• Assist students with logging in, navigating digital tools, and submitting assignments.

• Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning.

• Redirect off-task behavior and provide encouragement and support to keep students focused.

• Implement accommodations as directed for students with IEPs, 504 Plans, or other support needs.

• Participate in training related to technology tools, classroom management strategies, and instructional support.

• Maintain confidentiality in all matters related to student records and school operations.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the school principal or designee.

Qualifications:

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Basic proficiency with common educational technology platforms and devices (e.g., Chromebooks, web conferencing, educational software).

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• Ability to manage classroom behavior and provide student supervision.

• Dependable, punctual, and professional demeanor.

Preferred:

• Associate's degree or higher, or completion of at least 60 college credit hours.

• Experience working with school-age students in an educational or youth program setting.

• Familiarity with online or blended learning environments.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to sit, stand, and move freely throughout the classroom.

• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.

• Visual and auditory ability to respond to student needs and supervise effectively.

Work Environment:

• School-based classroom setting with daily student interaction.

• Regular use of computers, tablets, and other educational technology.

• Collaborative work with school administrators, technology support staff, and online instructional teams.
