Overview
SpaceX was founded to enable humanity to explore the stars. SpaceX is actively developing technologies to make this possible, with the goal of enabling human life on Mars. This position, Technical Satellite Policy Analyst, supports Starlink by advising on policy advocacy to ensure regulations enable and protect the provision of Starlinks services. The role, within Starlinks engineering organization, applies technical expertise to advance licensing and spectrum positions before U.S. and global regulators and government bodies.
SpaceX is leveraging its experience building rockets and spacecraft to deploy Starlink, the worlds largest satellite constellation, providing fast, reliable internet to 6M+ users worldwide.
Responsibilities
Ensure Starlink has freedom to operate by procuring needed licenses and approvals at record speeds, owning the process and outcome from beginning to end
Work closely with Starlink engineering teams to understand future needs and position the company accordingly
Shape ground infrastructure, broadband and spectrum policies that advance SpaceXs business objectives and Starlinks success in the U.S. and global markets
Advise the Starlink team on laws, regulations, and policies that impact the business and develop associated plans for achieving business goals
Represent and promote the company positions before agencies, regulators, legislatures, and regional organizations
Draft pleadings, letters, and other advocacy pieces to promote SpaceXs policy positions
Basic Qualifications
3+ years of experience in regulatory policy or business analytics
3+ years of experience in telecommunications or other heavily regulated industries
Preferred Skills and Experience
Engineering, data science, computer science, physics, or equivalent STEM degree
Understanding of satellite and spectrum use policies
Knowledge of radiofrequency spectrum technology
Experience working with the Federal Communications Commission and other federal agencies
Demonstrated success delivering results on large, complex, and fast-moving projects
Additional Requirements
This position is based in Washington, DC and requires being onsite remote work not considered
Willingness to travel up to 40% of the time
Must be willing to work extended hours or/and weekends as needed
This role may be subjected to pre-employment drug and random drug and alcohol testing
