About the role

Seeking a skilled Power Systems Technician to perform preventive maintenance, service, and rebuild electrical power distribution equipment. The ideal candidate is a mid-level technician with vocational or community college experience, capable of working both in-shop and on-site at customer plants. This role requires a high level of craftsmanship, attention to detail, and physical ability to handle equipment maintenance tasks.

Job Responsibilities

Perform preventive maintenance inspections, service, and rebuilds on electrical power distribution equipment.

Disassemble and reassemble power systems equipment under guidance.

Electrically test power systems equipment with guidance.

Identify and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical deficiencies.

Operate shop tools and test equipment as trained.

Clean and maintain power system parts during repair processes.

Record and report damaged or worn parts to the shop manager.

Prepare accurate and timely reports documenting work performed.

Maintain shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies.

Collaborate with the shop manager and engineers to improve repair procedures and product designs.

Perform assigned work efficiently both in-shop and on-site. Required skills

Job Requirements

Vocational or community college coursework related to electrical or power systems, or equivalent experience.

Ability to perform preventive maintenance and service on low and medium-voltage electrical equipment.

Proficient in disassembling, reassembling, and electrically testing power systems equipment with guidance.

Strong troubleshooting skills to identify electrical and mechanical deficiencies.

Capable of operating a wide range of shop tools and test equipment.

Physical ability to perform tasks, including squatting, kneeling, crawling, climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and standing for extended periods.

Detail-oriented with the ability to accurately complete reports and documentation.

Ability to work efficiently with minimal rework and maintain high craftsmanship standards.

Good communication skills to coordinate with the shop manager and engineers.

Willingness to work both in-shop and on-site at customer locations.
