Our client is a highly respected commercial general contractor with over 60 years of experience delivering complex new construction and interior projects across healthcare, life sciences, education, hospitality, and more. With a strong reputation for quality and collaboration, they operate throughout Northern Virginia, Washington D.C., and the surrounding metro area. As Director of Safety, you'll lead a team of safety professionals and shape the company's safety culture. You'll report directly to a senior executive and play a key role in strategic planning, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Job Description

The Director of Safety - Commercial Projects - Bethesda, MD will:

Lead and mentor a safety team currently consisting of two Safety Managers and one Safety Engineer

Develop and implement company-wide safety programs and training initiatives

Conduct site audits and ensure compliance with OSHA and company standards

Collaborate with project teams to proactively identify and mitigate risks

Drive continuous improvement in safety performance and reporting

Represent safety leadership in executive meetings and strategic planning

Support project teams across a range of new construction and interiors projects

The Successful Applicant

The Director of Safety - Commercial Projects - Bethesda, MD will have:

10+ years of construction safety experience, ideally in general contracting

Experience as a Senior Safety Manager or current Director of Safety

Strong leadership and team development skills

Bachelor's degree preferred but not required

Comfortable working across multiple project types and locations

Subcontractor experience may be considered if leadership and GC exposure are strong What's on Offer

The Director of Safety - Commercial Projects - Bethesda, MD will receive:

Competitive base salary: $130,000 - $170,000

$1,100/month vehicle allowance + $500/month gas card
