JOB SUMMARY:
The Counselor II/III - Substance Use Disorders reports to the Crisis Management Coordinator and provides Intensive Outpatient groups, intake assessments, treatment planning, and authorizations for payment, and prescreening for individuals appropriate therapeutically.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Provide substance use assessments, develop/monitor treatment plans, and provide substance use treatment utilizing best practice guidelines under the ASAM and ARTS criteria. Individual must be willing to work a flexible schedule based on the treatment needs of the population not to exclude weekend or after hours. Will also provide prescreening assessments on an as needed basis should the need arise.
Provide Intensive Outpatient services to adults with substance use disorders or with a concurrent mental illness. Provide assessment, develop/monitor treatment plans, makes referrals, and provide face-to-face and collateral contacts to increase the overall functioning of the individual; coordinate services, provide support, and monitor the individual for decompensation/relapse.
Provide education and consultation to other Mount Rogers Community Services Programs and to external agencies; assist with discharge planning for individuals hospitalized at state or private facilities.
Record/maintain information received from individuals and from collateral contacts; comply with all policies/procedures, confidentiality standards, and other regulatory guidelines.
Participate in meetings and committees such as clinical staffing meetings, business meetings, and mandatory trainings.
Provide support to individuals who are participating in services; comply with all Agency and regulatory guidelines.
OTHER DUTIES:
Perform such other duties as assigned by supervisor.
May be required to travel to other counseling center sites. QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of substance abuse/mental health disorders and treatment modalities.
Knowledge and skill in assessment, treatment planning, and evaluation.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities for case management services as defined by Medicaid guidelines.
Knowledge of consumer rights and confidentiality.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Must be able to document in an Electronic Health Record.
Ability to function and contribute as a member of a treatment team.
Knowledge of agency and community resources.
Minimum Requirements
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Grade 15: Licensed or Licensed-Eligible Clinical Social Worker, Licensed or Licensed-Eligible Professional Counselor, or Licensed or Licensed Eligible Marriage and Family Therapist as approved by the Board of Counseling with experience in substance use disorders.
Mandated prescreening status within three months of hire.
Valid Driver's license with a good driving record.
