Description
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnose, disassemble, inspect, and completely rebuild diesel engines and heavy-duty transmissions (manual and automatic) for equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, graders, loaders, haul trucks, and backhoes.
Troubleshoot and repair issues involving fuel systems, cooling systems, turbochargers, gearboxes, torque converters, and hydraulic drivetrains.
Conduct inspections and measure components for wear and tolerances using precision tools (e.g., micrometers, dial gauges, torque wrenches).
Reassemble rebuilt components following manufacturer specifications and test performance upon completion.
Maintain detailed service records including parts used, measurements, diagnostic findings, and work performed.
Assist in developing preventative maintenance schedules and identify potential failures before breakdowns occur.
Maintain a safe and organized work environment and comply with company safety policies and industry regulations.
Collaborate with equipment operators, supervisors, and parts departments to coordinate repair activities.
Stay current with technical service bulletins, manufacturer training, and new diagnostic technologies.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED; technical certification in diesel technology or related field strongly preferred.
Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience working with heavy equipment diesel systems, including engine and transmission rebuilds.
Proficiency with OEM diagnostic software and technical manuals (e.g., CAT ET, Cummins INSITE, Komatsu, Volvo).
Strong understanding of hydraulics, electrical systems, and powertrain integration.
Ability to interpret schematics, blueprints, and service bulletins.
Valid driver's license required; CDL and/or equipment operation certifications are a plus.
ASE Certification in Heavy Equipment or Powertrain (preferred).

Salary Range for this position is $95,000-$105,000
Working Conditions:
Shop and field environment; must be able to work in varying weather conditions and rugged job sites.
Must be capable of lifting up to 75 lbs and working with heavy components and machinery.
May involve overtime, shift work, or on-call responsibilities depending on operational needs.
