SUMMARY
This position offers hands-on experience in Safety operations. You will work closely with the Opportunities Inc. team, both in production with our packaging plants and in our business and mission services areas, to help drive overall safety and efficiency in all of our facilities. Our internship program is designed to achieve two primary goals: to bring fresh perspectives and innovative ideas into our workplace and to provide interns with meaningful experiences and knowledge in their respective fields to support their future career aspirations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Work closely on a variety of safety projects alongside our teams with re-imagining the Oi Safety Experience.
Take ownership of a Safety project that will help to drive safety initiatives across the organization.
Create and edit various training aids to educate on various safety processes and hazard mitigation methods.
Gain hands-on experience across all areas of safety operations including compliance requirements for various OSHA and applicable state programs.
Support safety meeting initiatives to reinforce safe work practices, to provide awareness of OSHA and other federal, state and local regulations, and to generally promote a strong safety culture.
Partner with operations employees to aid in integrating safety into the daily operations increasing safety knowledge.
Research industry trends and safety best practices.
Any other function or responsibility as assigned by the department. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be actively pursuing a degree in Occupational Health and Safety Management or related field
Must be in final year of study PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Must have strong written and oral communication skills
Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
A proactive, self-motivated individual with a willingness to learn and take on new challenges
