Description

The Deputy Attorney General serves as a legal advisor and litigator, providing legal guidance to state agencies and represent the state in court or high-level negotiations. The role combines strategic legal leadership with public service, ensuring that state laws are enforced fairly and effectively.

Examples of Duties

Draft comment letters in response to proposed administrative rules, policy letters, and other policy related materials as assigned.

Perform legal research on policy-related issues and draft legal memoranda summarizing research.

Support the legislative team in preparation for the legislative session, including bill drafting.

Assist during the legislative session by drafting amendments, tracking bills, meeting with various stakeholders on behalf of the Office, performing time-sensitive tasks.

Assist during the post-session by drafting reports, watching Governor bill signings, implementing newly passed laws, and performing certain tasks related to Office priorities.

Appear on select policy related litigation cases or appeals with other DAGs. Provides effective and efficient legal and policy services.

Maintain professional and positive relationships with internal and external contacts on behalf of the Office.

Perform special projects and other duties as assigned. Typical Skills and Qualifications
