Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday

Hours: 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM (5.5 hours per day)

Job Description

To actively engage in or assist in the teaching of preschool-age students, leading them toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, physical, emotional and psychological growth and maturation.

Salary is based on experience as per the Classified Salary Schedule - Level K, plus a comprehensive benefit package. Gladstone offers stipends for classified staff based on educational experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Under the direction of licensed staff, provide developmentally appropriate instruction across multiple domains of child development, including oral language, early literacy, early math, social-emotional development, and approaches to learning.

Flexibly applies inquiry-based learning theory, and employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the capabilities, interests and motivations of individual students and the learning community to plan a program of study that meets the needs, interests and abilities of students.

Works collaboratively with staff, families and with GCCF partner agencies as needed to support children's learning and development. Functions of this family-focused collaboration include establishing and maintaining open lines of communication with staff, students and their families concerning both the physical, cognitive and social and emotional development of students; assisting in; the working in partnership with GCCF agencies to support GTP enrollment; conducting developmental screenings; connecting families to needed resources; planning and implementing family engagement activities, and other GCCF partnership activities designed to support children and families.

Assists teaching individual children or children in a small group

Assists children in a variety of activities including arrival, departure, play, meals, and personal care, including changing diapers and soiled clothing.

Obtains, produces, and prepares appropriate instructional materials and implements developmentally appropriate curriculum following department guidelines and reports progress regularly to families following program requirements

Collaborates with staff and community partners to identify needed resources and community referrals, including culturally and/or linguistically specific resources, for individual families.

Maintains accurate and complete records in compliance with program requirements

Follows curriculum plans, which reflect developmentally appropriate practice, parental and cultural influences, and promote the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of children

Assists in the recruitment and enrollment of children who meet program eligibility standards.

Assists in completing developmental screenings.

Experience incorporating the perspectives of multiple communities, including [communities of color], in the consideration of impacts and outcomes of a decision-making process. Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from high school or equivalent.

Satisfactorily perform the requirements of the position as described in the job description.

Knowledge of early childhood learning, development and social/ emotional growth

Experience in a preschool setting desirable.

Possess the emotional and physical stamina to perform duties as required by the designated task except for temporary disability.

Other qualifications as may be established by the District. Preferred Qualifications

Spanish speaking preferred.

Familiarity with Reggio Emilia-inspired, inquiry-based approaches to early childhood education preferred. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Successful completion of a required educational program related to assignment.

Ability to manage multiple tasks as appropriate

Demonstration of ability to manage student behavior and maintain an environment conducive to learning
