Job Title: MEP Senior Plumbing Engineer

Job Description:

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer at 120 Degreez, you will be responsible for leading the design, analysis, and implementation of mechanical systems for complex and high-profile projects. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply advanced technical expertise, guide project teams, mentor junior staff, and play an integral role in the continued growth and success of our firm.

Responsibilities:

Lead the design and coordination of mechanical (HVAC) systems, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and related mechanical infrastructure for a variety of building types.

Perform and review load calculations, energy modeling, and system sizing using industry-standard software and methodologies to ensure efficient and sustainable design.

Develop and oversee plans, specifications, and construction documents for mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.

Review contractor submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings to confirm adherence to design intent, specifications, and governing regulations.

Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and drafters, encouraging professional development and maintaining high-quality deliverables across projects.

Coordinate mechanical systems with architectural, structural, electrical, and plumbing disciplines to ensure seamless design integration and avoid conflicts.

Conduct site visits and field observations during design and construction phases to verify installations, troubleshoot technical challenges, and ensure quality control.

Collaborate with clients, architects, and contractors to develop cost-effective, energy-efficient, and code-compliant HVAC solutions that meet both functional and aesthetic goals.

Stay current with California Mechanical Code, Title 24 Energy Standards, ASHRAE guidelines, and emerging technologies in mechanical and sustainable design.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited institution.

Minimum of 7 years of progressive mechanical design experience, with demonstrated ability to lead projects from conceptual design through construction administration.

PE license (or ability to obtain licensure within a reasonable timeframe).

Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and mechanical design software such as Trace 700, HAP, or equivalent load and energy analysis tools.

In-depth understanding of California Mechanical Code, Title 24 Energy Standards, and HVAC design best practices.

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.

Proven ability to mentor junior engineers, manage project deadlines, and coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary design teams.
