Job Description

Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL (candidate will have the flexibility to work out of their home office but must reside in Florida)

Schedule: Full-time, Exempt Report to the Florida Department of Transportation office in Fort Lauderdale, FL office as requested.

Travel: Candidate can expect to travel about 25% of the time throughout the state of Florida.

What You'll Do

Provide land acquisition services throughout the right-of-way lifecycle, in compliance with project guidelines and regulations

Review and correct title takeoffs, construction plans, and ROW documents; prepare and submit Waiver Valuation Forms

Deliver property rights documents to owners and representatives; negotiate and secure parcels through approved counteroffers

Maintain contact documentation, conduct final title checks, manage back taxes, and ensure removal of compensated items

Submit and track offer letters, counteroffers, and Releases of Damages; attend field reviews and provide weekly status reports

Handle administrative tasks including mailing notifications, filing deeds, verifying condemnation parcel addresses, and organizing acquisition packets

Submit vendor forms to expedite payments and support efficient project closeout

Minimum Requirements

Minimum of five (5) years of Right of Way acquisition experience

Must include experience with or within the Department of Transportation

Must include experience utilizing the Uniform Relocation Act

Active Florida Real Estate License

License must be hung with ORC*

Active Florida Notary

Must have an iOS or Android smartphone to be able to access ORC's systems

Valid Driver's License

Relocation and per diem are not provided

Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to clearly communicate and exchange information in person, via phone and email. Substantial repetitive movements of the wrists, hands and/or fingers due to high amounts of computer usage and typing. Expected to spend long spans of time in front of a computer screen. Able to read, understand and interpret department related documents and data. This is a largely sedentary role; however, the employee is occasionally required to move about inside the office to access files, office equipment and to interact with other members of the staff. This employee is required to occasionally travel to government buildings which involves time driving; sometimes for long durations.
