Reporting to the Vice Dean of the School of Medicine, the Office of Academic Affairs (OAA) is comprised of 12 faculty associate deans and 23 staff members who serve a total population of approximately 6,700. The primary mission of OAA is to serve as a resource in preserving and enhancing the excellence of the School of Medicine through the appointment, reappointment, promotion and retention of a distinguished faculty.

The Faculty Affairs Manager (FAA3) role provides complex analysis and guidance regarding Clinician Educator appointments, reappointments, promotions for the School of Medicine. This position provides subject matter expertise, ensures compliance with school and university policies, and works towards continuous process excellence. Reporting to the Director of Academic Affairs, the Faculty Affairs Manager core duties include, but are not limited to:

DUTIES INCLUDE:

Serves as SoM expert for all constituents Clinician Educator actions; provides policy information for these appointments, reappointments and promotions. Review submitted appointment and promotion (A&P) materials from a critical perspective, and advise dean, departments as appropriate.

Critically reads files for completeness, compliance with criteria, and content. Evaluates referee letters. Critically reviews teaching and clinical evaluations. Works with departments on revisions, if appropriate.

Provide necessary operational support and guidance to review committees and make recommendations for process improvement at the school level for Clinical Assistant, Associate and Professors.

Document and interpret policies and processes for contributors to the appointment/promotion application.

Critically reviews and approves all offer letters and addendums for Clinician Educators and identifies problematic information in letters and advise on how to resolve the problem. May provide first level approval for appointments and reappointments.

Serve as primary point of contact, as needed, in orienting new administrators to the department, school, and university. Troubleshoot issues as they arise.

Ensure compliance with school and university policies. Manage university faculty conflict of interest requirements for the department or school, as needed.

Manage the administration of joint appointments.

DESIREDQUALIFICATIONS:

Five years of experience working as a Faculty Affairs Administrator

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):

Bachelor's degree and five years of experience working with administrative processes, or combination of education and relevant experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):

High level of attention to detail and accuracy.

Demonstrated experience in managing complex administrative processes.

Demonstrated experience training, supervising, and evaluating staff, if supervising.

Excellent communication skills.

Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills.

High level of independent judgment and sensitivity.

Demonstrated ability to work well with Stanford colleagues and clients and with external organizations.

Demonstrated commitment to personal responsibility and value for safety, shown through communication of safety concerns and use and promotion of safe behaviors based on training and lessons learned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

Frequently perform desk-based computer tasks, frequently sitting, stand/walk, grasp lightly/fine manipulation.

Occasionally twist/bend/stoop/squat; reach/work above shoulders; grasp forcefully; use a telephone.

Rarely sort/file paperwork or parts, kneel/crawl, twist/bend/stoop/squat, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.

The expected pay range for this position is $70,079 to $114,989 per annum.
