Description:

Postdoctoral Researcher - The Gong Laboratory (Houston Methodist Hospital)About the lab:The Gong Lab, recently relocated to Houston Methodist Hospital and Houston Methodist Research Institute, is recruiting highly motivated postdoctoral researchers.

Our lab is performing high profile research in studying the molecular mechanisms that control programmed cell death and its impacts on inflammation, tolerance, and cancer.

We investigate the potentials of reprogramming cell death to influence pathological conditions.

We combine cutting-edge cell biology, biochemistry, immunology, oncology, and computational (deep-learning AI models) approaches to dissect cell-death signaling, with ultimate goals to identify novel therapeutic targets and approaches.

The PI, Dr.

Gong has been highly regarded in his field with publications in Cell, Dev Cell, Cell Reports, Immunity, etc., bringing with a prestige NIH Director's New Innovator Award.

For selected publications, please refer to responsibilitiesConduct independent and collaborative research on cell death or related cell biology in cancer and/or autoimmune disease models.Prepare high-quality manuscripts and conference presentations, and, where appropriate, contribute to grant and patent applications.Contribute to mentoring junior lab members and to general laboratory duties.Fit into the lab community's exploratory, collaborative, and friendly spirits.QualificationsPhD degree (awarded or expected soon) in Cell biology, Molecular biology, Cancer biology and Immunology is strongly preferred; candidates with training in pure dry lab experience are not a great fit to our lab.Strong background in molecular biology, gene editing (e.g., CRISPR), and genetically modified animal models is highly desirable.

Additional experience in tumor immunology, transcriptional regulation, chemical biology, or related techniques will be considered a plus.Good scientific writing skills and proficiency in reading and communicating in English.Hands-on experience with molecular biology assays, genome editing, or imaging-based studies is particularly valued.Excellent teamwork spirit, good communication skills, and a high level of motivation and independence. To apply, please email Dr.

Yi-Nan Gong with your CV and a brief summary of your accomplishments (1-page max).
