Schedule/Hours: Full-time, evening shift, 8 or 10 hr. shifts, Mon-Fri with call (5-8 overnight slots and 1-2 weekend slots in an 8-week window, with variability in assigned call requiring 30-minute arrival).
Major Responsibilities:
Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient operating room environment using aseptic techniques.
Prepare and manage surgical materials, supplies, and instruments.
Ensure disinfection and safety in the operating room and assist in positioning patients.
Function as a Second Assistant in procedures as needed.
Monitor and address equipment and supply issues.
Transport patients and maintain specialty carts ensuring all equipment is in working order.
Demonstrate knowledge of patient care according to age-specific needs.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months unless exempt.
Education Required:
Completion of an accredited program in Surgical Technology.
Experience Required:
No prior experience is necessary.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
Understanding of aseptic techniques and operating room equipment.
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
Basic computer proficiency.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Ability to work in fast-paced and high-stress environments.
Physical capabilities include lifting, pushing/pulling, and using equipment safely.
Mental and physical stamina required for frequent standing and moving during shifts.
Exposure to potential hazards including mechanical, electrical, and biological materials.
