Summary
We are seeking a Child Life Specialist who will plan, develop, and provide Child Life programming to support the psychological, emotional, and developmental needs of our pediatric patients and their families. Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate, schedule, and supervise special events for inpatient pediatric areas.
Collaborate with marketing and public relations for various media activities.
Develop strategic initiatives to alleviate fear and anxiety in children regarding healthcare environments.
Prepare patients and families for procedures and the healthcare environment through therapeutic play activities.
Assess patients' developmental stages and create personalized coping strategies.
Implement specialized services tailored to individual children's needs.
Provide consultation to healthcare staff on developmental and behavioral issues affecting patient care.
Maintain records of Child Life services provided to patients.
Oversee budgetary and resource management for the Child Life department.
Offer Child Life Consultations for children visiting hospitalized patients. Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Child Life or a related field.
At least 1 year of experience as a Child Life Specialist in a healthcare setting.
Certification as a Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) upon hire.
Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association upon hire. Physical Demands:
The role may require lifting and carrying 40-50 lbs, frequent standing and walking, and the ability to perform tasks such as kneeling, bending, and CPR. Patient transport can involve walking significant distances during shifts.
