Summary of Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Communications and Engagement Director, the Communications Specialist shall be responsible for developing resources and executing public relations activities to promote key services and policy initiatives for the Office. The Communications Specialist is responsible for working with subject matter experts within the Office to develop messaging and content for brochures, fact sheets, reports, letters, newsletters, and event invitations. In addition, the Communication Specialist will be responsible for creating digital content for the Office's website and video platforms; proofreading and editing written materials to ensure proper grammar, accuracy, and consistent messaging; and collaborating with the graphic design team to produce effective visuals.
Qualifications
This position requires a bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field with two years of related work experience. Strong writing and editing skills, working knowledge of AP style, and the ability to complete assignments independently are required. Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office Suite is preferred. Attendance and the ability to develop and maintain satisfactory working relationships with other employees and the general public are essential functions of this position.
