Position Summary:
The Vocational Instructor at The Academy of Integrated Trades, a program powered by Delaware County Christian School, will provide high-quality, hands-on technical training to students preparing for careers in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and masonry. The instructor will actively teach and mentor apprentices through a combination of classroom lessons and hands-on training, helping them build foundational skills in various trades while preparing them for industry certifications and successful entry into the workforce.
DC's mission works to graduate students prepared to impact the world through biblical thought and action. We are seeking a teacher who feels a calling to teach in a Christian School, has two years of trade experience, and feels comfortable working in professional learning teams focused on student learning in a culture of continuous improvement.
Essential Responsibilities:
Teach trade-specific skills through a combination of practical exercises, project based learning and classroom lessons. (e.g., carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and masonry)
Develop lesson plans and hands-on training exercises to facilitate effective learning
Coordinate with adjunct instructors in areas of specialization outside of the one's own knowledge
Cultivate and maintain relationships with program partners to secure summer internships and post-graduation apprenticeship opportunities for students
Provide mentorship and guidance to foster professional growth and discipline
Instruct students in essential business life skills, including punctuality, effective communication, perseverance, diligence, and teamwork
Administer skill-based assessments to measure students' understanding of tools, measurements, and workplace safety procedures
Willingness to serve as a lead teacher, mentoring and collaborating with additional instructors in the future
Maintain and manage tools, equipment, and supplies needed for instruction
Lead visits to Williamson Trade School and Thaddeus Stevens
Lead a summer missions work project with Samaritans Purse or a similar organization
Mature Christian Faith and a desire to model and share faith with others
Personal commitment to Jesus Christ and solid understanding of the Word of God. There should be evidence of a godly lifestyle based on a commitment to Jesus Christ
A passion for Christian education, paired with a commitment to DC's mission and alignment with biblical values Education/Experience:
Associates degree in the trades or Bachelor's degree preferred
At least 2 years of trade experience. Preferably in the field of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry Skills:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Strong organizational skills

Ability to lead and manage a team, providing effective oversight and evaluation of work performance
