U.M. FDSP Associatesis a non-profit affiliate of the University of Maryland School ofDentistry. U.M. FDSP Associates is the organization that providespatient care focused staffing for the clinic operations sothat faculty and students may provide patient care to the generalpublic.

Under general supervision, provides clinical supportservices involving distribution, collection, and storage of medical suppliesand equipment. Interacts with students,faculty and staff to ensure prompt and accurate order fulfillment. Responsible for keeping needed suppliesin-stock and organized.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Receives instrument cassettes from Central Sterile Unit(CSU) and distributes to students and faculty.

2. Logsinstruments in and out using manual or bar code system. Enters and retrieves data from computerizeddatabase.

3. Receives,inspects, and verifies return of all contaminated instruments. Initiatesprocedures regarding missing or damaged instruments.

4. Conductsphysical inventory and orders supplies to maintain adequate inventory levels indispensary and in laboratories. Receives,unpacks, labels, and places supplies in proper order on shelves or clustercabinets. Rotates stock, monitorsexpiration dates.

5. Maintainsand updates logs and records of supply transactions. Compiles and files documents such as packingslips, purchase requisitions, and vendor information.

6. Maintainssupplies kept in patient education rooms such as forms, pamphlets, and toolsused in demonstrating proper dental hygiene.

7. Distributeslab coats, patient charts, small equipment, and other supplies to chairside.

8. ObservesUMB/FDSP precautions regarding the handling of infectious waste.

9. Performsa variety of routine clerical duties such as answering phones, taking andrelaying information, and filing.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 1 years'related experience.

Required Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

Ability toperform basic arithmetic calculations. Ability to follow oral and writteninstructions. Ability to communicateeffectively orally and writing. Abilityto perform extensive standing and walking. Ability to push and pull carts ofsupplies to make deliveries around the building. Ability to lift, stock shelves, and loadcarts of supplies and equipment. Abilityto maintain accurate and up-to-date records and logs. Ability to wear and work in personalprotective equipment.

ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Employeesin this job class may be required to receive immunization to prevent illnessdue to exposure to blood borne pathogens.

Overtime, weekend, on-call and shift workmay be required.
