Reports to: Principal
Contract Length: 184 days (Teacher Contract)
Recommended Qualifications:
3 or more years of successful teaching experience and/or additional coursework in literacy, math, and/or English as a Second Language
Valid Indiana Teaching Certificate
Expertise in Instructional Coaching
Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of K-12 instructional best practices including the Six Standards of Pedagogy, SIOP Model, reading and math assessments and interventions
Experience working with teachers about instructional practice
Successful experience working with student learners, specifically English language learners
Successful experience working with adult learners
Strong skills in communication, collaboration and team building
Excellent leadership skills
Skills in presentation delivery and facilitating meaningful conversations
Life-long learning is demonstrated by staying current in the latest research-based instructional practices and continually shares information with staff
Knowledge of scientifically-based research in the area of reading, math, and/or ELL strategies and disseminates this information to teachers, administrators, parents and community members through a variety of formats
Ongoing Responsibilities
Implements a coaching model with teachers in classrooms that focus on best practice instruction. The coaching model will include modeling, lesson planning, team teaching, data analysis and ongoing feedback to teachers through non-evaluative observation, dialog, and reflection.
Assists classroom teachers with the planning of standards-based lessons and the implementation of effective instructional strategies and interventions that increase student achievement through consultation, collaboration, co-teaching, model teaching, and coaching.
Participate in specific professional development in the areas of English language learning, instructional coaching, curriculum design, literacy, and math.
Supports teachers through professional development in the area of reading, writing, math, inquiry and/or ELL strategies.
Prepare for delivery of high quality, dynamic, professional development sessions during staff meetings and other designated times. Continuously reflect and revise sessions based on feedback. Sessions include making connections to the work staff does with English language learners.
Willingness to work a flexible schedule that allows opportunity to work with teachers before/after school.
Support to at-risk students through core curriculum, interventions and extensions
Collaborate with Core Team to support RTI
Coordinates and/or delivers parent community relations in the area of ELL, Literacy and Math
Participates in and presents at Literacy and Math/Science Fairs, Summer ElevatED Conference, and other district PD sessions
Develops and maintains records and reports as are necessary to support Title I & Title III grants
