Join a dedicated healthcare team in the Midwest region as a Student Nurse Intern specializing in Surgical Orthopedics. Under the guidance of a licensed nurse, you will engage in hands-on patient care, supporting individuals through various stages of recovery and treatment.
General Summary
Perform diverse duties related to patient treatment and care, tailored to age and developmental needs, while assisting with daily living activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care including hygiene assistance such as bathing, hair care, oral hygiene, and grooming.
Deliver skin care with attention to preventing skin breakdown.
Assist with physical activities including repositioning, ambulation, range of motion exercises, and transfers.
Support nutritional needs by preparing patients for meals, assisting with feeding, monitoring intake, and ensuring dietary compliance.
Collect specimens, perform vital signs, and document intake and output accurately.
Carry out procedures such as sit baths, postmortem care, application of ted hose, ice packs, and binders.
Lead and encourage participation in performance improvement initiatives and teamwork.
Perform technical nursing interventions within credentialed scope, including oxygen therapy management, catheter insertion/removal, intravenous therapy discontinuation, nasopharyngeal suctioning, dressing changes, wound care, and skin management.
Conduct patient assessments and collaborate closely with the primary nurse.
Administer intramuscular and subcutaneous injections, manage NG tubes, and provide patient and family education alongside the primary nurse.
Document all care activities thoroughly and promptly, ensuring accuracy and compliance with medical records standards.
Immediately report any changes in patient condition or concerns to licensed nursing staff.
Education
Currently enrolled in a nursing program or completed nursing education but not yet licensed.
Experience
Entry-level position; no prior experience required.

Mental/Physical Requirements
Requires significant mental focus and physical stamina, including frequent walking, lifting, turning, and other physical activities.
Working Conditions
