Description

Ensures and enhances the health and well-being of our Residents by planning, organizing, administering, and directing all aspects of the food service program

Dietary Functions

• Designs and implements menus for regular and special diets according to Resident care plans

• Creates and places food orders

• Collaborates with facility Registered Dietician

• Participates in care conferences, IDT (Interdisciplinary Team), QAPI (Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement), and staff meetings

Management Functions

• Interviews, hires, trains, and provides coaching for department staff

• Identifies appropriate staffing levels for the department and creates work schedules

• Coordinates staff functions and activities for maximum cooperation and efficiency

Administrative Functions

• Follows standard precautions and works within OSHA guidelines

• Immediately reports any suspected abuse or neglect of Residents per facility policy

• Establishes policies, procedures and protocols for departmental functions

• Manages the departmental budget effectively and documents all expenses

• Utilizes materials and supplies in an efficient, cost-effective manner

Personnel Functions

• Develops and maintains productive working relationships with other staff

• Remains free of criminal conviction that may preclude employment in the nursing home setting (including but not limited to theft, battery, assault)

• Reports any pending criminal or civil charges to the Administrator by the next business day

• Always represents the United Pioneer Home in a positive manner unless contraindicated by law

• Performs other duties as qualified for and as directed

Requirements

• CDM (Certified Dietary Manager) preferred; CFSM (Certified Food Service Manager) accepted

• Minimum 3 years of experience in the food service field

• Minimum 1 year of experience in a supervisory role

• Minimum 1 year of nursing home experience

Other Skills and Abilities Required

• Demonstrated concern for the elderly and ability to treat Residents with respect and dignity

• Aptitude for hospitality, cooking, and customer service

• Strong time management, leadership, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills

• Knowledge of IDDSI (International Dysphagia Diet Standardization Initiative) framework

• Knowledge of MDS (Minimum Data Set) recordkeeping and data entry

• Familiarity with software such as Point Click Care (HIMS), Paylocity (HR), OnShift (scheduling), and Excel (spreadsheet) preferred

• Ability to communicate tactfully and effectively with Residents, staff, consultants, vendors, and visitors

• Ability to prioritize and manage workloads to ensure that deadlines are met

• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of Resident information according to HIPAA regulations

Physical Requirements

• Ability to endure prolonged periods of walking, sitting, standing

• Able to bend, squat, stoop, and do repetitive shoulder/arm motions

• Able to lift up to 25# frequently and up to 50# occasionally

• Achieve negative assessment for infection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis (TB)

• Be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability

• Remain free of illegal drug use and signs of impairment per facility policy
