The Business Instructor is a full-time, 9-month salaried position responsible for teaching a combination of Business and Computer courses. These responsibilities involve developing and implementing course syllabi, achieving student learning outcomes, evaluating student performance, record-keeping, and related activities. Related activities include, but are not limited to, advising, serving on various committees, participating in recruiting and retention efforts, and participating in professional activities and organizations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Master of Business Administration with 18 graduate hours in Computer Science or equivalent graduate degree in a highly related field

Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

A minimum of 6 hours in graduate statistics courses

Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills

Excellent interpersonal communication skills required

Willing to consider candidates who are working towards hours in MIS or CSC or statistics

Experience with online teaching and classroom technology preferred REPORTS TO: District Director of Business Instruction

CONTRACT TERM: Nine (9) months

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teach Business and Computer courses, primarily Computer Science and miscellaneous Business courses

Prepare, administer, and grade assignments, and/or program assessment data

Maintain a record of student attendance as required by the Mississippi Community College Board

Submit grades, attendance, and outcomes according to the academic calendar

Manage timely engagement, grading, and communication

Participate in departmental meetings and committee assignments

Complete 15 hours of professional development each year

Ability to travel between campus locations

Establish effective relationships with college administration, faculty, staff, and students.

Adhere to school policy as set in the Policy and Procedures Manual

Perform other duties as assigned by the District Director of Business

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Ability to take initiative to solve problems

Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

Experience using technology including email, word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation software, and Internet use

Strong interpersonal skills to interact tactfully and courteously with students, faculty, staff, and the general public.

Ability to collaborate with others and work as part of a team

Demonstrate oral and written communication skills to interact with a wide range of diverse individuals. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the Instructor regularly required to do the following:

Travel between campuses and a flexible schedule is required, including some evenings, weekends, and extended hours to meet department needs

Stand for long periods

Talk, hear, view, and assist students

Communicate with others in person, telephone, zoom, & live chat

Sit, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms

Stand, walk, stoop, or kneel
