MECHANIC APPRENTICE - IKO Southwest Plant (Hillsboro, TX)

IKO is a global leader in the roofing, waterproofing, and insulation industry. We're looking for a motivated Mechanic Apprentice to join our team at the IKO Southwest asphalt shingle plant in Hillsboro, Texas. The IKO Southwest facility manufactures high-quality asphalt shingles used in residential and commercial roofing applications. Our Hillsboro plant is a key part of IKO's North American operations, known for its commitment to safety, innovation, and operational excellence.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

As a Mechanic Apprentice, you'll work alongside experienced maintenance professionals to:

Assist in inspecting, maintaining, and repairing mechanical systems and equipment

Learn to troubleshoot issues with motors, conveyors, pumps, and other plant machinery

Support installation and modification of mechanical components

Help organize tools, parts, and work areas

Follow all safety procedures including lockout/tagout protocols

Use computer-based maintenance systems to track work orders and equipment history

Participate in test runs and assist with equipment adjustments

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

High school diploma or GED required; technical training or coursework preferred

Strong interest in mechanical systems and hands-on work

Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced team members

Basic understanding of tools and mechanical principles

Ability to work safely in a fast-paced industrial environment

Good communication and teamwork skills

Flexibility to work various shifts as needed
