Health and Safety Coordinator

Job Type: Full-time

Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm

Overview:

The Health and Safety Coordinator supports management, supervisors, and workers in maintaining a safe and compliant work environment across all construction projects. This role oversees daily safety operations, ensures compliance with legislation, and promotes a strong safety culture.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in implementing, monitoring, and updating company health and safety policies and procedures in accordance with legislation and best practices. Maintain safety documentation, emergency plans, and hazardous materials inventories.

Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the company’s COR (Certificate of Recognition) program to achieve and sustain certification.

Conduct site inspections, identify hazards, and coordinate corrective actions.

Assist in investigating workplace incidents, report findings, track corrective actions, and oversee WSIB claims and modified work programs.

Coordinate mandatory safety training (e.g., WHMIS, Working at Heights, First Aid/CPR). Maintain training records, lead toolbox talks, and support Joint Health & Safety Committee activities.

Maintain accurate safety records, track performance metrics, and prepare reports on incidents and trends.

Manage PPE and safety equipment supplies, coordinate with vendors, and support internal and external safety audits.

Working Conditions:

Combination of office and fieldwork; travel to project sites within the GTA required.

Qualifications:

2–5 years of experience in a health and safety–related role, preferably in construction or industrial environments.

Post-secondary education or certification in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.

Strong knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and applicable regulations.

Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Valid Ontario driver’s license required.

Safety certification training (e.g., JHSC, WHMIS 2015, first aid/CPR, COR, etc.) is considered a strong asset.
