Phlebotomist - Pennington Gap

Phlebotomist II assists in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations within the laboratory environment. Responsibilities include performing blood draws, labeling specimens, and centrifuging specimens as required. They also ensure proper decontamination of equipment, update patient information accurately, collect and store specimens following established procedures, and explain the venipuncture process to patients. They demonstrate proper techniques using needles, fully understand and execute all physicians' orders, match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens, verify all test requisitions, package specimens, and follow specific protocols to maintain the integrity of the specimen. They comply with OSHA and DEP regulations, attend training sessions, and answer telephone calls.

Essential Skills include valid Phlebotomy certification, minimum of 1+ year experience performing venipunctures, proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, high school diploma or GED, and 2-4 years of experience in phlebotomy. Additional Skills & Qualifications include experience in a high-volume environment, confidence in pediatric venipunctures, ability to handle administrative tasks, and willingness to travel to Patient Service Centers and In-Office Phlebotomy locations.

Job Type & Location: This is a contract to hire position based out of Pennington Gap, VA.

Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $22.25/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on job classification and length of employment.
