The Tuscarora Intermediate Unit invites applicants for a Life Skills Instructor for Corrections Education, located at South Mountain Secure Treatment Unit, for the 25-26 school year.

The Life Skills Instructor for Correctional Education Facilities shall be directly responsible to the Director of Correctional and Alternative Education or designee for supervision and evaluation.
Fundamental Duties:
Provide training and instruction to assigned students.
Develop and implement individualized plans of instruction (IPI).
Prepare and submit reports as required.
Provide learning support to the assigned students.
Keep staff abreast of students' programs.
Develop/maintain updated student records and reports.
Attend in-services and workshop meetings, as required.
Maintain the care and inventory of books, supplies, etc., provided by the IU.
Ability to utilize technology for instructional and classroom management purposes.
Adhere to all Institutional and IU security, safety and program requirements.
Report to the Educational Director or designee any problems or concerns which may arise during the school year.
Perform other tasks as assigned by the Director of Correctional and Alternative Education or designee.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Individuals must possess these skills, knowledge and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. Some requirements may exclude individuals who pose a direct threat or significant risk to the health and safety of themselves or other employees.
Ability to communicate effectively orally in English.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing, using the English language.
Ability to lift and carry 50 pound items.
Qualification Standards:
Education: Possess a Pennsylvania Certificate for Instructional I or II, Social Studies, English or Related Certification
Special Education and Correctional Education preferred
