Custodial Worker (Evenings)

Duties: Putnam Northern Westchester BOCES anticipates a full time opening for a Custodial Worker (Evenings). Candidate will be responsible for daily cleaning and safety conditions of BOCES facilities, and to supervise, instruct and assign tasks to cleaning staff.

This person is responsible to clean, perform grounds keeping activities, and perform routine maintenance activities including painting, and minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical repairs.

Arranges special set up of events, as programs require.

Makes recommendations for and orders custodial materials, supplies and equipment.

Uses basic computer applications as related to duties.Qualifications: Ability to understand and carry out simple oral and written directions; and to read, write, understand and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the essential functions of the position.

Supervisory experience preferred.

Physical ability to perform all job related duties.

Working knowledge of building cleaning practices, supplies and equipment; familiarity with the operation and maintenance of building systems; and ability to perform a variety of routine maintenance tasks.

Must be thorough and dependable.

Bilingual preferred.

Must qualify through Civil Service.
