We are seeking a skilled and motivated Inventory Control Specialist to join our team. The role will be responsible for ensuring accurate control, reconciliation and optimization of warehouse inventory, including the management of Obsolete and Slow-Moving Inventory (OSMI). The role focuses on maintaining accurate stock records, and supporting operational efficiency through effective inventory planning, reconciliation, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
Inventory Management and Control:
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of all material movements within the ERP.
Conducting regular cycle counts, stock takes, and variance investigations.
Reconciling discrepancies between system data and physical stock and take corrective action.
Following up with Expeditors to ensure timely resolution and closure of all discrepancy tickets logged in the system.
Ensuring proper storage, handling, and labelling of all materials to maintain integrity and traceability.
Monitor and report on inventory accuracy and stock levels based on ROPs
Enforce proper material management practices such as FIFO/FEFO.
OSMI (Obsolete and Slow-Moving Inventory) Management:
Managing the receipting, handling, and documentation of all returned items from stockrooms, ensuring they are accurately recorded, properly stored, and maintained in saleable condition.
Coordinating and monitoring freight forwarders to ensure the timely pick-up, documentation, and onward delivery of OSMI items in accordance with company’s procedures.
Ensuring all returned stock is complete and follow up to obtain credit notes promptly for accurate invoicing.
Proactively monitoring and analysing slow-moving, obsolete, or potentially redundant materials, and compile periodic OSMI reports that outline key trends, emerging risks, and recommended corrective actions.
Ensuring that all OSMI activities are accurately recorded in the ERP system and properly approved in line with company policy.
Data Accuracy and Reporting:
Generating daily, weekly, and monthly inventory performance and reconciliation reports.
Conducting stock analysis to support planning and procurement decisions to ensure optimal inventory levels.
Supporting internal and external audits with complete and accurate documentation.
Analyzing stock discrepancies, root causes, and proposing corrective measures.
Compliance and Continuous Improvement:
Ensuring full compliance with company inventory management policies and audit requirements.
Participating in periodic reviews of inventory control procedures to strengthen efficiency and accountability.
Identifying opportunities for process improvement in stock management, OSMI control, and reporting.
Providing guidance and training to warehouse personnel on materials control and documentation standards.
Qualifications and Experience:
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (Supply Chain Management, preferred).
Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in warehouse operations, with at least 3 years in inventory control or materials management in mining industry
Strong knowledge of ERP/Warehouse Management Systems (experience with System 21 Aurora and SAP is an advantage).
Demonstrated experience in OSMI management and inventory optimization.
Valid forklift or material-handling equipment license is an advantage
