The position

The Project Manager should be based in Aswan and will be reporting to the Country Manager. It is a one-year contract.

Background:

The Om Habibeh Foundation (OHF), an affiliate of the Aga Khan Development Network, is implementing the APWA project in partnership with GIZ. The initiative promotes community-centered site management of cultural heritage in West Aswan, fostering inclusive dialogue among civil society, government, and scientific actors. The project targets over 1,000 direct and indirect beneficiaries, with a strong focus on gender equity, disability inclusion, and climate resilience.

Position Objectives:

The Project Manager will lead the strategic planning, implementation, and monitoring of the APWA project. This includes overseeing participatory processes, managing partnerships, ensuring compliance with donor and OHF policies, and delivering all outputs and indicators outlined in the project proposal.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Planning and Oversight

Lead the development and execution of detailed work plans, budgets, and implementation schedules.

Ensure alignment with OHF’s strategic priorities and donor requirements.

Supervise project staff and consultants, including the mobilizers and facilitators.Community Engagement and Participatory Processes

Oversee 3 participatory planning meetings to identify and prioritize community challenges.

Ensure inclusive participation of women, youth, persons with disabilities, and local leaders.Solution Development and Implementation

Manage the co-solution selection process, including proposal review, budgeting, and stakeholder approval.

Ensure transparent and fair selection of 5 co-solutions (including 2 gender-responsive and 1 disability-inclusive).

Oversee implementation and financial settlement of trainings, campaigns, and events.Awareness and Capacity Building

Coordinate 28 heritage awareness sessions targeting diverse community groups.

Establish and support women’s committees within CSOs; deliver training in leadership, communication, and event planning.

Facilitate events such as 16 Days of Activism and International Women’s Day.Partnerships and Stakeholder Coordination

Build and maintain partnerships with government entities, private sector, academia, and CSOs.

Ensure stakeholder involvement in SILs, awareness sessions, and co-solution testing.

Serve as the primary liaison with GIZ and other donors.Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting

Track progress against all project indicators, including:

80% of sensitization participants reported increased heritage awareness.

5 gender-sensitive cooperation measures implemented.

Inclusive development concept drafted through a participatory process.

Prepare narrative and financial reports; maintain documentation (attendance sheets, surveys, photos).

Lead internal learning loops and contribute to OHF’s MEL systems.Compliance and Safeguarding

Ensure adherence to OHF’s safeguarding, gender equality, and disability inclusion policies.

Apply climate resilience principles across project activities.

Uphold transparency, accountability, and non-discrimination in all processes.

The requirements

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, cultural heritage, development studies, or related field.

Minimum 5 years of experience in project management, preferably in heritage or community development.

Proven track record in participatory planning, stakeholder coordination, and donor reporting.

Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Fluency in English and Arabic; Nubian language is an asset.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools.CORE COMPETENCIES:
